So, I saw this tweet, I think it
was @kampungfiksi. He tweeted, “cobalah untuk menulis 500 kata per hari.
#writersblock”, which translates in English as “try to write 500 words per
day.” He was discussing about writer’s block, how to avoid it and just keep on
sharpen up the knives of creativity inside the brain.
And I’m planning to do just that.
Well, not sure if it’s going to be EVERY day though, because I have some busy
days, lazy days, and busy to be lazy days (which are just the worse version of
the latter). But hey, I’m just a human. A unique-and-special-in-my-own-way
human. ^^
NOW! I’m quite a bit confused
with the topic. I mean, if I am going to write 500 words in most of my days
from this point in space and time forward, then I’ll have to come up with a new
topic, new idea, every time I write.
I do have several solutions to
this: (a) Observation. This involves my eyes, ears and smell (probably touch
too) to work together, which will hopefully spawn inspirations. I can see
people, nature, dogs, cats, the rains, droplets of water fall off the edge of a
roof, a girl in the mining engineering, her. I can also hear the people’s
dialogue, my friend’s words, a lecture in a class, or a simple wind passing by.
(b) Research. This one mostly
involves the scientific side of me. I’d search things like black hole
singularity, dyson spheres, quasars, galaxy clusters, and every cosmic
phenomenon that always manage to seize my amazement. And these researches keep
on increasing the height of my inspiration pile regarding sci-fi stories.
Unfortunately, they don’t evolve. They can’t. They stay in that form for an
indefinite length of time. Waiting for me to do something to them that’ll make
them a fully grown story.
(c) Read. Need I to say more?
While I’m on this, last month, a friend of mine suggested that he and I, each
month with a budget ranging from 100K to 150K, we’d go to Banjarmasin and hunt
for books, novels, to help increasing our writing skills. It was a great
suggestion, and I immediately concurred. My current #maybooks are Long Distance
Hearts, Antologi Rasa, Dunia Tanpa Sekolah, Jokowi Biography, Ngawur Karena
Benar and Dunia Tanpa Sekolah. I’m planning to have Dewi ‘Dee’ Lestari’s
novels, the Partikel series, as the #junebooks.
I think that’s about it. Couldn’t
really think of any solutions anymore, especially when overcoming my acute
laziness. I think it’s reached the final stages of being the worst -____-. If
of course you have more solutions, comment below, because it’d be extremely
helpful if you do. (:
