Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahhi Wabarakatuh
As you can see, i used islamic greeting for the first time in my blog. You'll get used to in seeing it in my future post.
So, based on the title, i think you all know where this is going; the weather and the fasting month. Of course, when you put those two together, there are two opposing yet in the end, identical results. When you're fasting in the middle of the wet season, it's going to be cold, and you'll end up spending most of your time on bed, in front of the PC, Laptop, Notebook or TV, which will obviously and slowly drain your energy. While if it's in the middle of the dry season, or probably doing activites in the open air beneath the scorching hot sun for a long period of time, your energy would quickly decrease, and you'll end up exhausted. Of course, when you had a sufficient amount of sahur meal, plus water, you may not feel so exhausted, but you will get tired, anyway. But what if you don't? Of course, that'd be a nightmare. Just imagining it is making me scared of breaking my fast before the time.
And that was exactly what has happened today. This afternoon, about 8am, my class was chosen to represent our major (and perhaps, our school) to participate in the rehearsal of Indonesia's 65th National Independence Day's Ceremony, and will also participate in the Main Ceremony of the Anniversary on the tuesday 17th of August 2010.
Now, first of all, when i was first awaken, i looked at the sky, it was cloudy, and i thought, 'Ah, seems like today's not going to be so hot like yesterday.' But, when the clock hits 7.30am, those clouds were beginning to fade. Still, it didn't fade my hopes that today would be cooler. I realized that i spoke too soon. By 8am, there was BARELY any cloud on the sky, and that was enough to make my hopes crashed and crushed to bits. It was scorching hot, the sun was like releasing all of its unreleased heat upon us, and by the end of the day, all of my friends and i and several other students were gone to the shades underneath the trees to cool ourselves down. Also, my bad stomache was worsen by the heat, and when i got home, i immediately went for the bathroom to do the 'you-know-what'. And that's where i was thinking, 'God, if today's rehearsal is this bad and hot, what about the main ceremony??! I need your help here, God. Please...'.
So, as a closing for this post, i'd give some tips on how to survive through the scorching hot day and the cold one when you're fasting. And i'll save the best for last, like i love it. ^^
First, do some activities. You can always do some activities, to make you forget of the feeling you're fasting, and hunger. Don't do heavy ones, just the light ones, like clean up the dishes, broom the house/yard, water the plant, clean the bedroom or like me, writing stories :p ^^. In the middle of a very cold weather, such activities are like body-warmers. However, if it's a hot day you're facing, don't do any outdoor activities. If you have to, try to limit it, and don't push it too hard.
Second, always drink a lot of water during sahur meal. It's my mom's tips, and surprisingly, it works! So, just drink maybe 3 to 6 glasses of water during sahur meal, but if you think 3 glasses are enough, then don't push it, you might end up hurting yourself.
Last but not least, will power. Yes, you just need the will power to do it if the above two are impossible. If you're sincere in fasting, then i'm sure the breaking time can arrive faster then you think. Trust me, you'll be amazed by what your will power could do. ^^
So, that is all for today's post. Hope you enjoy it, and get the lesson from it. My apology if it's boring, and special thanks for have read it. I'll be posting again real soon, so stay tuned! bb^^dd!
